New Brunswick, New Jersey -

A truck driver has been charged with death by auto in connection with a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike that killed one man and injured four others, including actor and comedian Tracy Morgan.

Middlesex County prosecutors say 35-year-old Kevin Roper of Jonesboro, Georgia, also faces four counts of assault by auto stemming from the crash, which occurred around 1am on Saturday. His bail was set at $50 000.

Roper's tractor-trailer allegedly rammed into a chauffeured limousine bus that Morgan was riding in. That set off a chain-reaction crash that left one member of Morgan's entourage dead and two others seriously hurt.

Morgan and the two others remained hospitalised in critical condition Saturday night. - Sapa-AP
