Halle Berry is reportedly very upset with ex-husband David Justice.

The Oscar winner, who recently announced her split from third spouse Olivier Martinez, is said to be in shock after the former baseball player lashed out at her on Twitter, accusing her of trying to "destroy [his] character" by never publicly denying rumours he hit her during their four-year marriage.

David hit out at Halle, 46, on his social media profile for failing to help him clear his name over the years and insinuated she was responsible for her subsequent splits from second husband Eric Benet, Canadian model Gabriel Aubry and Olivier.

Benet voiced his support for Justice, tweeting: “My man at @23davidjustice is tweeting some truth dis' mornin’!”

At the time of Berry and Benet's divorce, it was widely reported that the singer was a sex addict. Benet had booked himself into rehab, claiming that he took the decision after Berry issued an ultimatum saying "you do this or it's a wrap". However, he has denied that he is a sex addict, claiming that an expert at the centre had confirmed that he was not an addict, after being evaluated.

A source close to the 'the actress, who divorced David in 1997, told gossip website TMZ.com that she has no idea what sparked his verbal attack because she has never identified the former lover that abused her and left her partially deaf in her left ear, and has no plans to do so in the future.

Justice responded: “I just want to thank Halle for finally squashing all of the rumors in the past, that I had physically abused her, causing the hearing loss.” However, this was after a lengthy, bitter rant that gave insight into his unresolved anger towards Berry.

The tweets that caused the drama began with: “Reading the latest Halle Berry Reports,it wasn't me who hit Halle causing the ear damage.Halle has never said that I hit her,” he said. “It was a former Hollywood boyfriend (WS) that she told me ! #getyourfactsright When she first reported that she had been in abusive relationships, she wouldn't name the "famous" former boyfriend She was mad at me leaving the relationship so she and her Hollywood Team just tried to destroy my character. It had to be my fault, right?”

“Yup..Me,Eric,Gabriel and Olivier were all her ‘Knight in Shining Armor’,until it ends..Then we all become the worst guys in history. Only the guys in the relationship with Halle know the real deal there will be another, of course. He’ll be called ‘The Best’ until it ends.” Both tweets have since been deleted.

The athlete told the Daily Mail Online he felt compelled to air his feelings in the wake of Halle's split from the French actor, saying: "So many years ago, I didn't say anything about the accusations that I abused her, but now I have three children, ages, 15, 13 and 11, two boys and one girl, and they can read this stuff and they have friends who will read it as well so I had to finally come out and say once and for all I never hit Halle Berry.

"Back then it didn't matter, but it's different now. Halle never said I hit her but she never said I didn't either, which was disappointing."

He added: "I am not the face of Halle Berry's exes, I won't be going on TV to talk about this. I just wanted to make sure my wife, my children and the rest of my family, friends and fans know the truth."

Justice closed the subject on Twitter with the following:

The kids in my community, coaching baseball, football and basketball.Say what you want about me because I'm far from perfect, but don't say
