London - Stephen Belafonte would "take a bullet" for Mel B.

The 39-year-old producer - whose marriage to the former Spice Girls singer is rumoured to be on the rocks - has blasted claims he has assaulted or cheated on his spouse but admitted they have been arguing.

He said: "I had nothing to do with hurting my wife. I did not touch Mel. I didn't hit her. I wasn't cheating or anything. There was no girl involved.

"How long have you been married? How many arguments do you have? I find it really sad nobody would like for Mel, or us, to be happy.

"There has to be an attitude of, 'Oh, they got into a fight so now let's go for the jugular'. Everyone gets in arguments. And then stuff calms down and you think about your life.

"You think about where you've been and what you've been through.

"I love my wife. I care about my wife. I'd take a bullet for her.

"I've got to consistently grow a little bit. But I do want to get old with my wife and have grandchildren."

Addressing allegations he abused his wife, who is still recovering after being hospitalised with crippling stomach pains last Thursday (11.12.14), he also told MailOnline: "Who accused me of it, did she accuse me of it, the police, the hospital, who accused me of it? I thought when you beat someone up the police or the hospital or the person you beat up says it.

"No one has accused me of anything."

Stephen, who was charged with beating former girlfriend Nicole Contreras in 2007, also insists he isn't worried about his reputation, as it's "not the first time" he's been accused of being violent.

He said: "You can only re-mix ten things, ten ways, so many times."

Mel, 39, missed the 'X Factor' final in the UK last Saturday night (13.12.14) due to a mystery illness and sparked concern when viewers noticed bruises and scratches on her body when she returned to the show on Sunday night (14.12.14).

Stephen also dismissed criticism over his decision to return to Los Angeles at the weekend while his wife was still receiving hospital treatment for exhaustion.

He told The Sun newspaper: "How many times in life have I gone somewhere and Mel's stayed somewhere else?

At the end of the day, I have children and I have a wife.

"I protect my wife and my children with my life. That's just the way it is. It doesn't matter if people think I'm a good guy or a bad guy." - BANG Showbiz
