He’s an experienced actor, singer, dancer and model, so Christopher Jaftha is no stranger to getting top billing.

Tonight, he makes his debut as a presenter on the flagship SABC3 magazine show Top Billing, having won himself a legion of fans on the hit reality show, Presenter Search on 3.

Christopher is somewhat of a comeback kid. Having bowed out in the top 5 of the show, it initially appeared as if he had missed his chance to join the Top Billing team. But his obvious screen charisma must have made an impression on the show’s producers, who roped him back into the fold. For Jaftha, it all seemed to work out as planned.

He described the experience in an interview with elbroide.com.

“I had no hard feelings at all, and was happy for the winners,” he said of his exit from the reality show. “However I was a tad confused as to why I never placed at all. I later made sense of it. I would not have been readily available to present for Top Billing as I was going straight into the West Side Story rehearsals and I have a TV series playing on SABC 3 titled Roere Jou Voete. I am also playing in Sleeping Beauty from November at the Joburg Theatre and realised that everything happens for a reason, and that I didn’t need the win as much as any of the other contestants.”

Voted Mzansi’s Sexiest Man in 2011, Jaftha is more than just a pretty face. He boasts an impressive stage CV, having worked in productions like West Side Story, Aladdin the Pantomime, High School Musical, Footloose, Mama Mia, Dream Girl, Saturday Night Fever and the upcoming Sleeping Beauty: The Pantomime. He’s also a regular on our TV screens, and his credits include popular shows like Roer Jou Voete, High Rollers and Isidingo, as well as Inkaba and Geraamtes in die Kas.

“I think that your presenting style and what you say can have a huge impact on others and it’s a great platform to do that. I stand firmly on the belief that media and entertainment is a platform to inspire and change lives for good. It’s a show with prestige and class and I love that.”

• Watch Top Billing to see Christopher in action this Thursday, 10 September at 7.30pm on SABC3.
