There has been an outpouring of sympathy on social media for cuckolded rapper ProVerb, who has admitted he had been cheated on by his wife.

The Sunday Sun reported at the weekend that ProVerb’s wife of 10 years, Onalerona, met businessman Edwin Sodi at a carwash two years ago. The newspaper suggested the pair hit it off and entered into a tryst, despite both being in relationships.

Media reports at the weekend suggested the rapper and Idols executive producer learnt of the adultery through media reports. But the rumours were fuelled when he tweeted a confirmation of the affair.

“Friends, I beg u to please spare Onalerona of any judgment, none of us are perfect. (It’s) All true, my wish is to protect the kids and shield her from judgement,” he tweeted, although he later deleted the post.

Since the tweet, a torrent of “there, there” messages have come through from fans and other celebs on ProVerb’s Twitter page.

“The Proverb story about his wife cheating is sad. Proverb is such a good guy… Hade ntwana!” fellow rapper Cassper Nyovest tweeted.

Many expressed surprise at Onalerona’s alleged infidelity, saying it was odd that she would cheat on such a successful musician and entrepreneur. But others were more caustic towards her.

“Maybe Proverb’s wife is into broke and fat rappers. He went ahead and lost weight and made money,” @YaredtheGuy tweeted.

A smattering suggested there had been rumours of ProVerb also cheating on his wife in the past, and that he may have had it coming.

“Proverb knew ALL ALONG about this affair? Now when HIS side dish leaves him, he has a problem with the wife cheating? ok,” @KaraboNYC tweeted.

“Proverb has cheated on his wife twice that we know of. Now it’s her, he’s out here sending sympathy tweets,” wrote @lion_queen.
