Just a week after news of her alleged engagement surfaced, Kelly Khumalo allegedly attacked her new lover, Zamokwakhe “Bhaka” Nzama.
Speaking to Drum magazine, Nzama – a wealthy traditional herbalist – said Khumalo hit him on Saturday.
“Earlier, Kelly told me to leave my partner Jabu to be with her, and I said no. I told her I will never leave Jabu even if I am not legally married to her. I left her hotel room when I saw that she wanted to fight.”
He said he went back to the hotel where Khumalo was staying before Saturday’s Metro FM Awards. “I wanted to give her the car keys for the Audi so she could use it to go to the awards, when she hit me.”
That evening, Khumalo attended the awards, where she was a nominee.
Although he said he would not open a case of assault, Nzama told Drum that he regretted meeting the singer.
The drama unfolded a week after Nzama allegedly paid lobolo for Khumalo.
His father told the Sunday Sun: “Whatever Bhaka does, we support him. He is a respectful child, he supports me financially, I have nothing against MaKhumalo.”
The paper reported that Nzama paid half the lobolo and would pay the rest this month.
Khumalo declined to comment. She said: “Can I be left alone? This matter is private.”
