Internationally celebrated 1980s pop singer Jennifer Rush and R&B star Brian McKnight are coming to South Africa.

Rush will kick off her world tour of eight South African cities in October.

The tour will run until November and coincide with the 30th anniversary of her hit song The Power of Love.

The song is listed in Guinness World Records as the best-selling single by a female solo artist in the history of British pop.

Rush will perform in eight cities including Bloemfontein’s Sand du Plessis Theatre on October 9.

She will feature an all-South African band that will add a fresh 21st-century twist to her 80s songs as well as some of her recent material.

“Coming back to South Africa is a dream come true,” Rush said.

“I am excited to be starting my world tour in South Africa. I always draw inspiration from this beautiful country.”

Multi-award-winning McKnight will perform in three cities, kicking off his tour in Durban at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on September 16.

The show will be followed by another in Cape Town on September 17 and one in Joburg on September 19.

McKnight will arrive in South Africa against the backdrop of talks about the release of his 16th album titled Better.

He has been nominated for yet another Grammy award.

He has 15 albums under his belt. The 45-year-old American, a singer-songwriter, arranger, producer and multi-instrumentalist, has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide.

Other international stars coming to South Africa for a festival next month include R&B singer Musiq Soulchild and soul and gospel singer Oletta Adams. The duo will be joined by South African-born gospel and jazz fusion exponent Jonathan Butler.

The festival will kick off at the Grand West Casino in Cape Town on June 12 and move to Carnival City the next day.

Tickets for all shows are available at Computicket.
