WHAT has been the highlight of your year so far?

Skouspel in the Sun City Superbowl is usually the highlight of the year. It’s big and spectacular, it runs over two weekends with seven shows and 35 000 people attend. Being part of Tropika Island of Treasure 3 is also something I enjoyed. Thailand, the possibility of winning R1 million, and having a blast… what more could one ask for?

What is your favourite Durban restaurant, place to visit and local leisure activity?

I like any restaurant that serves a proper Durban curry. I love uShaka Marine World and there are some really great tattoo parlours in Durbs.

The movie you most enjoyed in the past 12 months? And your favourite film of all time?

Inception. I loved the way it played games with my mind. All-time fave film? As Good As It Gets.

What is currently in your CD player and why? And what is your most cherished album of all time?

Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. My most cherished album is Black Eyed Peas’s The End.

Favourite kind of meal? And least favourite?

Pap and nyama. I love it.

Least favourite is any kind of soup.

How do you keep fit?

Horseriding and hitting the gym every morning.

The three things that make South Africa great?

The diversity of our people. The beauty of all the different cultures. And Cape Town.

What is the word or phrase you most overuse?

Awe!

What one thing about yourself would you love to change?

I would like less stress. I get worked up about silly stuff. I am working on it and I have managed to reduce stress. I would also like to have more holidays. My friends say I’m a workaholic and I need to take a long, uninterrupted holiday.

How and where did you celebrate your last birthday? And when is your birthday?

December 22. Usually I am on a countrywide tour at this time, but last year I was in Mossel Bay at the Bravo Festival. I performed on my birthday.

Dream holiday? And with whom if it could be a fantasy date?

On my farm in the Free State with all my friends and family. We’d have horseriding, swimming, fishing, parties under the Karoo stars. Lots of fun, enjoying the fresh Karoo air.

If you could be an animal what would it be?

A horse. They are incredible animals – aware, connected, intelligent, gentle, fast and powerful.

Personalities you most admire?

Brenda Fassie was incredibly talented, crazy, unpredictable and never dull. I also respect anybody who has done anything to help people in need.

Six things you truly love? And six things you detest?

I love animals, partying, performing, my family, compassion and my life.

I hate violence, hospitals, peas, cruelty to animals, admin and stupid people in power.

What is the funniest thing that ever happened to you?

I once did a show in a small town and a young mother approached me with her child and said she wanted to introduce me to my son.

Favourite actor, actress, band and TV show?

Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson, Fall Out Boy and Six Feet Under.

Three things you have to do before you die?

Own a speed boat. Visit India. Be content.

What are you reading at the moment?

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle.

Your three favourite cities – and why?

Bangkok (exciting, vibrant and spiritual), Durban (beauty and the beach) and New York (I have never been, but have to go).

Five things about yourself that most people don’t know.

I love going to the dentist. I don’t like sleeping in strange beds in hotels and guesthouses. I am afraid of heights. I went to school with Charlize Theron. I hate driving fast.
