Princess Beatrice has hired Emma Watson’s stylist to work her magic after she was “mortified” by criticism of her outfit at the Royal Wedding.

The 22-year-old daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson has appointed Charlie Anderson at a cost of £1,500 (R16 570) a day, The Mail on Sunday has revealed.

Mrs Anderson - who has transformed the Princess’s image - was fashion director at Tatler before becoming a stylist. Her clients include stars Katie Holmes, Anne Hathaway and Nicole Richie, as well as Harry Potter actress Emma.

She has already won Beatrice praise from fashionistas by dressing her in a nude haute couture £73,000 Elie Saab gown with a £355 Aruna Seth handbag for last week’s White Tie And Tiara Ball, hosted by Sir Elton John.

Beatrice, a student at Goldsmiths University of London, came under fire for the outlandish Philip Treacy hat and ill-fitting Valentino taupe couture dress-and-coat combo she wore to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding in April.

The hat, which she later auctioned on eBay to raise more than £81,000 for charity, was likened to an octopus and a toilet seat.

She and her younger sister Eugenie, who wore a garish Vivienne Westwood skirt and jacket, were ridiculed for being among the worst-dressed guests of the day.

Prince Andrew is understood to be picking up the bill for employing mother-of-two Mrs Anderson, who splits her time between homes in London and Ibiza.

Last night, Mrs Anderson’s agency, Naked Artists, confirmed her appointment. “Yes, Charlie is working for the Princess and has been since the Royal Wedding, but she has signed a non-disclosure agreement,” they said in a statement.

Mrs Anderson started working with the Princesses after striking up a relationship with their mother, the Duchess of York, when they worked on a shoot for US magazine People.

Mrs Anderson, who is on first-name terms with designers such as Phillip Lim and Elie Saab, is an expert at dressing women with curvier figures and the Duchess was apparently delighted with her work.

“She introduced Charlie to Beatrice and they got along immediately,” says a source.

“Charlie is known for being one of the best in the industry and one of the first things she did was to put Beatrice in Roland Mouret and some fabulous Aruna Seth shoes.

“She upped the ante and went for sophisticated glamour. She has encouraged Beatrice to tone down patterns and go for block colour and great tailoring, teamed with sophisticated accessories.”

Beatrice, who has slimmed from a size 12-14 to an 8-10 since running the London Marathon last year, has also hired a personal trainer - Nadya Fairweather, of Battersea-based fitness firm U-Shape.

“Because we never know what her schedule’s going to be like, we do a full-body workout every session and she tries to see me every week,” Ms Fairweather said. - Daily Mail
