Prince Harry arrived at Growth Point Kings Park in Durban to much fanfare from local and international media.

He was met by eThekwini deputy mayor Nomvuso Tshabalala and Sharks CEO John Smit before striding along the red carpet to a private briefing inside the stadium.

The prince was there to join the Sharks for the KwaZulu-Natal Rugby Union Hotspots coaching clinic which saw him assisting and interacting with kids from Inanda and Umlazi.

He was accompanied by a strong security detail which included the SAPS.

Kings Park has been home to South African rugby royalty gracing its fields, but this was different.

Having dispatched with the formalities, Harry quickly got stuck in. He unlaced his bright blue trainers, pulled off his socks and took his place on the field. After milling around the field passing on advice and chatting with Sharks CEO John Smit, he decided it was game time.

Harry captained one team and Smit the other. It's difficult to say who won but the young stars certainly enjoyed themselves as they interacted with the prince.

eThekwini municipality deputy mayor Nomvuso Tshabalala said Harry's visit would go a long way in boosting the confidence and belief of the city's future stars.

Following the coaching clinic, Harry will head out to a local surf house to chat to underprivileged kid surfers before joining them for a session at a local beach.
