Bill Murray had planned to rush on stage at the Golden Globes as George Clooney was picking up his lifetime achievement award.

The 64-year-old reportedly wanted to prank his good friend by storming the stage as the actor was being honoured at the ceremony but decided not to because George ruled against it.

An insider told the New York Post’s Page Six column: “I wish it had happened, it might have made the show more interesting.”

George was handed the Cecil B DeMille Award for Outstanding Contribution to Entertainment at the star-studded ceremony and fortunately for him his Monuments Men co-star didn’t storm the stage as that might have affected his acceptance speech, in which he praised his wife Amal Alamuddin.

He said: “It’s a humbling thing when you find someone to love – even better when you’ve been waiting your whole life. And when your whole life is 53 years, Amal, whatever alchemy it is that brought us together, I couldn’t be more proud to be your husband.” - BANG Showbiz
