Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had his hand and footprints immortalised in Hollywood on Tuesday.

The actor received the honour outside the historic TCL Chinese Theatre and was accompanied by his girlfriend, Lauren Hashian.

After placing his hands in the wet cement, Johnson punched the air in celebration.

Addressing fans and guests, the WWE wrestler revealed it was Steven Spielberg’s 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark that inspired him to become a movie star.

He said: “When I was 8 years old I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark. I was such a big fan and knew I wanted to be that guy… who I thought was cool, a pretty tough guy, but doing it with a smile, and the one thing I thought I could do at that time was be physical. I had my mom take me to the store to get some boxing gloves because I thought to be a tough guy you had to fight. She got me some boxing shorts and I made a whip at home to be like Indy.”
