While it has been reported that Katie Holmes “blindsided” Tom Cruise with divorce papers, it appears as if the ‘Mission Impossible’ star isn’t above a bit of deception himself.

With Holmes’ aversion to Scientology rumoured to be at the centre of the star couple’s split, it has emerged that part of her divorce agreement includes an “iron-clad” clause preventing Cruise from exposing their six-year-old daughter Suri to any of his religious practices. However, while the split between the couple was described as “amicable” by their respective legal teams, it appears as though Cruise will play hard-ball over this matter in the future.

According to the Daily Mail, a source has since revealed that the split on friendly terms was a sham and that Tom wants control over the faith Suri chooses.

“Tom will do whatever it takes to make sure he comes out on top,” said the source.

“Everything is going on the line - the homes, the jets, the money in the bank. He’s worth up to $250-million, and he’s made it clear that he’s willing to spend every last cent fighting for Suri.”

Cruise was also angered by the way Holmes duped him.

“What really shocks him is how meticulously she planned this divorce, when all the while she was telling him she loved him. He’s devastated by that, and that devastation has turned into anger.”

According to a story carried by Us Weekly, Cruise had already begun the Scientology auditing process on Suri behind Holmes’ back.

“Tom was beginning to audit Suri behind (Holmes’s) back,” the source said, a claim denied by Cruise’s spokesperson.

“You get asked really intense things (during auditing) - and Suri is only 6! Katie saw a difference in Suri.”

Meanwhile, Holmes has signed up to be a parishioner at a Catholic church, a move seen by many as an attempt to distance Suri and herself from Cruise’s Scientology beliefs.
