When it comes to cooking, few people realise that it is actually an art form. It usually takes a long time to perfect, with dedication and exposure needed to become a master chef. This is why it is going to be fun to watch several celebrities take part in the MTV Baked: SA Celebrity Cook-off, which is coming to our screens.
The line-up will include Jessica Nkosi, Danine Naidoo, Toll A$$ Mo, MTV VJ Sizwe Dlhomo, Minnie Dlamini, Nomzamo Mbatha and Maps Maponyane, to mention a few. Their challenge is to attempt the unique dishes that are created on the Brothers Green: Eats! show. The winner will walk away with... wait for it… an MTV Baked spatula and culinary street cred.
If you have seen the Brothers Green: Eats! show, then you will agree that this is going to be a huge ask for our local celebrities. The food we see on Brothers Green: Eats! takes a lot of imagination and careful planning. Food can look good, but taste horrible. To get people talking you have to get both the look and the taste just right.
The batch of celebrities who have been selected generally look like the kind of people who take care of themselves. They look physically healthy, which probably means that they watch what they eat. Yet, many celebrities often claim to be strangers in their own kitchens, so whether our local stars can handle the heat remains to be seen.
Still, there are a few names you could put your money on.
Tol A$$ Mo proved that he has some skill on Celebrity MasterChef SA and although he didn’t make it to the finals, in one of the episodes he actually managed to win some money for his charity.
Maponyane seems to be everywhere at the moment, so the odds are good that one of the places in which he has made an appearance could be his kitchen.
Dlhomo owns a restaurant so he probably knows a thing or two about actual cooking.
At the end of the day, it’s all about having fun.
