COUGAR TOWN

(Season 4)

***

Idiocy sells.

I HAVE to say, I am no fan of this series. But, like Leon Schuster’s brand of comedy, this show is critic-proof.

Perhaps with a glass of wine in hand, I might have found it easier to sip on that pervading desperation and sexual wickedness. After all, it seems to get Courteney Cox, as the protagonist Jules, through every episode.

Argh, such wishful thinking.

This series fell victim to the limitations of its title. After all, Cougar Town isn’t quite the same when said divorcee is no longer single. And has settled into the joys of marital bliss (and blow ups).

And if viewers really want a taste of true debauchery, Charlie Sheen’s Anger Management fills that entertainment quote better. But, as I already noted, there are fans aplenty of this joke of a comedy.

This season’s highlights include Jules and Grayson finding a middle ground as that honeymoon phase fast eludes them.

When they aren’t dealing with those niggling adjustment issues, they find themselves immersed in the woes of their close friends. Hilarious stuff. Not!
