Vuzu AMP has another cool show coming for those of you who have friends who love money. Entitled Down for the Guap, the show has you and your buddy go through various hoops to win a cool R10 000 at the end of the show.

According to various urban dictionaries, “guap” simply means “large amounts of money”, in any currency. So if you and your buddies are “down for” (we don’t have to define that, right?) the money, then this one is cut out for you. Times are hard and what’s a few minutes in front of a camera? At worst you can always hide behind the fact that this is all in the name of strengthening a friendship.

There are various shows on which friends are pitted against each other, but the strongest aspect of this show has to be the hosts. On Down for the Guap, we meet Larry and TJ who are no strangers to TV or the Vuzu brand. They are members of the amazing dance group The Repertoires, who really made the now defunct rap group Jozi look good back in the day. The Repertoires went on to have their own reality TV show, Running with the Reps, which did really well at a time when reality TV was still a new phenomenon in the country. Now switching from the serious stuff, and tapping into their funnybones, we see the two raise the bar when it comes to hosting.

Think Fear Factor mixed with SABC1’s Friends Like This and then you have Down for the Guap. You know how some people say, “everyone has a prize”, while others argue against that? This show will give us the answers. With R10 000 hard cash up for grabs, we are set for some good TV from desperate people. People have done far worse for less.

Currently the show is under production but is looking for more contestants to take part in outreagous challenges for handsome compensation.

The first season will be comprised of eight episodes and, unlike other game shows, Down for the Guap will add a reality TV aspect, making it a unique production that lets us in on the contestants’ true personalities.

l Catch Down for the Guap on Vuzu AMP, (DStv channel 114) from June 11 and every Thursday thereafter at 7pm.
