Katy Perry kicked off her Super Bowl half-time performance riding a giant tiger on Sunday night.

The 30-year-old singer entered the University of Phoenix stadium astride the shining puppet and wearing a Jeremy Scott outfit made of tongues of vinyl flame to begin her 12-minute set with 'Roar'.

Katy stuck to performing her biggest hits for the crowd at the sporting spectacular, with silver-clad centaurs dancing across a chess-board style stage for 'Dark Horse', before her previously-announced special guest Lenny Kravitz made an appearance to duet with her on her breakthrough single 'I Kissed a Girl'.

The singer teased last week she would be joined by another special guest, and it was leaked before the performance that it would be Missy Elliott.

The rapper came out after Katy sang 'California Gurls' and 'Teenage Dream' - backed by dancers dressed as palm trees, beach balls and sharks - to perform three of her own hits, 'Get Ur Freak on', 'Work it' and 'Lose Control' .

The astonishing finale to the performance saw Katy - in her fourth costume change, a star-spangled silver outfit - fly around the stadium on what looked like a giant sparkler-shooting star to end with 'Firework'.

The Super Bowl 2015 saw the New England Patriots triumph over the Seattle Seahawks.
