No tricks, just treats for this Halloween

AT the weekend, a friend, who is also a neighbour, took the liberty of holding me hostage in his home as we watched YouTube videos on how to make Halloween masks.

Each year this cheerful young lad makes it a point to think outside of the box to create a very impressive outfit for the official Halloween party.

On the said afternoon, we sat together for a while trying to see who on the web had the best practical ideas. There was one guy whose work had attracted my friend’s attention. It was a mask of something that looked like a cross between Hellboy and a bull buffalo.

To make the mask, you needed wire mesh for the face and my friend had driven around the city in search of the material, but to no avail. We were therefore stuck.

Perhaps Halloween is not your thing, but there is no denying that when it comes around there is a legion of believers who go out of their way to celebrate the holiday.

With this in mind, Sony Max has lined up several programmes for Halloween fans this month.

Not only will the station be celebrating Halloween on October 31, but it will be offering what is deemed to be the best in Halloween entertainment through-out the month.

You will be able to watch a lot of material that will incorporate the best scary and goofy shows and movies. We will start with a special Halloween weekend treat when you will get to see the entire first season of the hit psychological drama series, Hannibal, over three nail-biting nights. Now, if by some miracle you missed this show when it first aired on other channels, trust me, you really missed out and will want to catch this time around.

(Catch Hannibal at 10pm on Friday and it will air on Saturday and Sunday at the same time.)

If that is too bloody for you, you might want to try something lighter like the second season of Freakshow which will start next Tuesday at 9pm.

Here you will see the revival of the carnival freakshow in Venice Beach, California, where a man opens up his home to people and animals with intriguing consequences. The second season of Hole in the Wall starts on Monday at 6.10pm. The show originated in Japan and as with all things good, it was adapted for the US market. The game show sees people trying to fit themselves into oddly shaped holes cut into Styrofoam walls.

Another good one to look out for is Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood. It’s a series of comedy-horror films that all have something to do with a leprechaun that loves causing mayhem. The series already airs every Monday at 9pm. These are just some of the productions that Sony Max (DStv channel 128) has in store for your Halloween needs.
