Johannesburg - If you met Boitumelo Thulo (pictured) , you’d think you’d found a long-lost friend. Whenever she is out and about she is always in the happiest of moods, making it easy to chat with her.

But that’s probably what you do when you are a TV personality; people should not only like your image, they should warm up to your personality as well. And no doubt this personality is taking Boity places.

She stars in the new Mzansi Magic TV series, Rockville, in which she plays a twin sister to Minnie Dhlamini.

“Before this opportunity came along I had done a few cameo roles, but nothing serious. So I can safely say this is my first real acting job and I am excited,” said a bubbly Thulo.

Since she stars alongside Shona Ferguson and Bonnie Henna as their daughter, Thulo admits that at times she was in over her head.

“It can be a bit intimidating to star alongside people who have done this all their lives, but the good thing is they are all patient with me.

“Before I joined them I did a crash course with a well-known acting coach, Dorothy Angold, who taught me a lot about the craft,” she said.

With the media and fans always comparing her looks with those of Dlamini, Thulo feels Rockville is finally making use of those observations.

“I can’t deny the similarities, but I don’t think we are identical. I know we almost look alike, but not to the point where you can’t tell us apart.

“I also think it is interesting that our parents are Shona and Bonnie who also have some features similar to us. It was clever casting,” she explained.

Her character is from an affluent family, but tries not to be too obvious about her opulence.

“My character is bound to grow in the future, but until then I still remain daddy’s little angel,” she said.

While Rockville is keeping her busy on certain days, Big Brother Africa is in need of her services on others.

“I will be doing their online pre- senting as they have a large online following. This season has been upgraded to allow people to watch key points of the show from their mobile devices,” she explained.

“I think the prerequisite of watching Big Brother Africa all day and night is being jobless, but if you have things to do that keep you away from the television, then we will supply you with an online package that has the interesting bits of the day,” Thulo concluded.
