Kay and Pumba had been in the Big Brother Mzansi competition for 41 days when the axe finally fell on them. The viewers were obviously not feeling the energy that the two were exuding and made their feelings known after the nominations – the pair garnered the least votes.

“It’s good to be alive. We are just grateful for the experience. Our plan worked and we were a strong team and I think it was just bad luck that I dropped three eggs and it cost us,” said Pumba, referring to their last task.

Kay confessed that she wasn’t even interested in joining the show in the first place. Instead, Big Brother Mzansi called her.

“I escorted my sister to the auditions and just decided to try it out. I got in and she didn’t,” said Kay.

The two contestants might have enjoyed their time on the show, but there were things they missed while in the house.

“You’d think that you would miss things like your TV and cellphone, but that was not the case with me. I actually missed the freedom to do what I wanted when I wanted. I could not just leave and go to the shops or the club,” said Pumba.

The nonchalant Kay had one thing one her mind.

“I missed my boyfriend because it could get frustrating sometimes,” she said.

LIFE AFTERWARDS

The pair seemed divided on what they wanted to do now that they had left the competition. Pumba wants to be in broadcast media and Kay is deciding which step to take.

“I am really into radio. I want to get a slot at a local Mzansi radio station. I also do presenting and acting, but radio is my main love. Being in the studio makes me feel at home,” said Pumba.

Kay, on the other hand, still has to decide on how to proceed with life.

“I want to focus on my work and will see what happens thereafter. I will decide later what to do with my life,” she said.

DID THAT JUST HAPPEN?

The hippie task was really hilarious especially because a good number of the contestants had no idea what a hippie is. So as you can imagine, the interpretations were way off, but they produced memorable performances that included speaking in supposed ’60s lingo and getting in touch with nature. It was the blind leading the blind and the challenge now for Big Brother is to come up with another idea that is just as entertaining.

WEAKEST PAIR

As we draw closer to the end, the competition is really stiff and there are no clear winners. If we are going to go by the contestants’ diary interviews, then Soxx and Tembi are the most feared in the game. They have been mentioned so many times by the others as threats. They are followed closely by Mbali and Chelsea, who have been top contenders from day one. This leaves our weakest pair of the week being Blue and K2.

EYES ON THE PRIZE

Kay and Pumba feel that since they are out of the competition, the favourites to win this year’s Big Brother Mzansi are Mbali and Chelsea.

“Mbali has a strong personality and young people could look up to her. Chelsea is a crazy person and the viewers like that about her. It also doesn’t hurt that she’s hot. I think the two are a good advert for girl power,” said Pumba.
