Tracing Structural Elements of Ancient Greek Tragedy, a two-day workshop hosted by the Greek

Embassy. February 18 and 19. Participants to be 20 years or older, stage experience required.The workshop is practically focused and all theoretical information will accompany or follow the action. A basic knowledge of ancient Greek dramaturgy and mythology is advised. Participants might be asked to learn a monologue from an ancient Greek tragedy (in English) for the second day of the workshop. Auditions:

The Joburg City Theatres’ Youth Development in partnership with Drama for Life is launching a strategic intervention programme called Introduction to Performing Arts and Arts Management. It is an outcome-based programme that encompasses business and artistic practical projects where the participants will have to produce a production, market it and their entire organisation, build an audience/market, maintain proper business records and administration. The programme has three levels over three years. All community-based groups in Gauteng are invited to collect application forms from Joburg Theatre at the box office. Forms must be returned by February 19, accompanied with the group’s profile. Each group must prepare a five -15 minute presentation. Veronica Paeper, artistic director and choreographer for The South African National Dance Trust, will holdauditions for professional dancers for her production of Spartacus to be staged next year. Auditions for professional, athletic and dynamic classical ballet and contemporary dancers (male and female) will take place in Cape Town, Joburg and Durban.
