He’s back, Tim Plewman, with that show that had everyone who never goes to theatre streaming in.

Straight from his appearance at the 41st National Arts Festival in Grahamstown, Plewman continues to take the popular one-man show, Defending the Caveman, to venues across the country.

The comedian, who decided to get back onto the stage after a five-year hiatus with this show, has returned with this humorous, longest-running and most successful solo comedy in South African theatre history.

Prior to making his way to the annual arts festival, Plewman gave audiences in Cape Town a taste of the Broadway production that depicts a more current perspective of the hunter and gatherer in men and women.

Plewman says that still after all this time, the piece, which is aimed at challenging the human psyche on all levels, will give audiences a different outlook on life.

“It is an exciting addition to the 2015 calendar, and I am still excited to perform this updated defining play,” he adds.

Penned by Rob Becker, Plewman adapted the script for southern Africa and went on to win the Vita Award for Best Actor in a comedy.

Now again he has updated, upgraded and made uploadable to today’s world of tweets, selfies and six million Facebook friends. This production, he believes, is still a hilarious, affectionate and insightful comedy.

“After years of hearing that all men are a**holes, the Caveman once again stands up to be counted. And being a troglodyte, standing upright is not an easy thing to do,” he jokes.

Those who haven’t seen Defending the Caveman will have another chance with Plewman as he takes on four more seasons of this much-loved comedy, explaining how and why women and men see life so differently, across the country on the following dates: at the Centurion Theatre on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, July 31 and Aug 1; at the Hilton Festival, KZN: Sept 18 to 20; at the Hexagon Theatre, Pietermaritzburg, KZN: Oct 7 to 11; and at the Victory Theatre, Houghton, Joburg: from Nov 11 to Dec 24.
