TO THE delight of her South African fans, the singer of I’m Every Woman and Ain’t Nobody will be headlining this year’s DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival.

The 10-time Grammy Award winner Chaka Khan will be headlining the Midrand-based festival alongside fellow Grammy Award winner and legendary house DJ Louie Vega.

“DStv is excited and honoured to be the first to bring an iconic woman such as Chaka Khan to our shores, in almost two decades. Our subscribers can attest to the fact that she has been the soundtrack to their childhoods and many more memories. To see her live, surely is a life-long dream for many,” said Colleen Goodman, head of retention at DStv.

Called “the Godfather of global house music”, Louie Vega mixes everything from salsa and afro-beat, to jazz, hip-hop and soul.

The Waterfall Polo Estate in Midrand will play host to this music and food extravaganza on June 6 where foodies can also see their favourite celebrity chefs in action and sample their dishes.

The culinary celebrities to look out for include Food Network celebrity chefs Reza Mohammad, Siba Mtongana and Jenny Morris as well as MasterChef SA judge Pete Goffe-Wood who’ll run the The Delicious restaurant.

Mtongana, Morris and Mohammad will be hosting live demonstrations and cook-off for the public to watch at the Food Network Pavilion.

Speaking about what people can expect, festival director Lloyd Cornwall said: “If it’s got something to do with the kitchen then it’s got something to do with Delicious.”

Festival goers can expect gourmet food, street chefs and food trucks.
