Vacancy:

The State Theatre is looking for dynamic and theatre-loving postgraduates who have theatre studies and/or literature as their background with a proven track record as theatre makers. Candidates must have a wide knowledge of theatre and literature in South Africa and aborad. These candidates will provide dramaturgical support to new projects.

The dramaturge will be responsible for supporting new writing and successful develop-ment and completion of new plays. As an independent part of the artist team, the dramaturge needs to hold workshops and readings for the development of new plays, and should also attend showcases, rehearsals, dress rehearsals and previews. They will also read and evaluate scripts for recommendations to the artistic director and help to host visiting artists, often organising workshops or talks. (Three-year project based contract). Competitions:

The third Len van Zyl Conductors’ Competition will take place in 2015/16. Open to South Africans not older than 33 on January 1, 2016. It offers performance opportunities and master classes with international conductors; the semi-finalists and finalists perform with the CPO and the winner receives an all-expenses paid one-month internship with the Philadelphia Orchestra in America and two months of study at Northwestern University in Chicago with Victor Yampolsky.
