Competitions:

The Imbewu Trust’s 2015 SCrIBE Scriptwriting Competition entries are open. It is a platform for writers to have their work developed with various prizes including a run at a Cape Town theatre and the opportunity to receive feedback at a week of staged readings with audience and industry professionals. Scripts should be in English, no longer than 40 pages or 80 minutes long with a maximum of five cast members. The judges are looking for original content of outstanding quality that share the diverse range of South African stories. Deadline for submission is July 31. Scholarships:

The ACT Scholarships Programme goes national. In partnership with Dalro and the Nedbank Arts Affinity, ACT presents the seventh annual ACT/Dalro Nedbank Performing Arts Scholarships Programme. This tuition competition is open to grade 12 learners and individuals aged between 18 and 25 who are not considered professionals and wish to pursue unergraduate studies in the performing arts. They are encouraged to register for participation in the regional round of nationwide auditions.

Auditions will be held in Pretoria on July 15, Joburg on July 16 and 17. Participants will be put through their paces, showcasing their talents in acting, singing and dancing. Finalists must be available for the final round from October 6 to 12 in Joburg where winners will be announced. Registrations for the scholarship programme are open until May 31.
