The Rand Merchant Bank WineX wine festival lived up to its promise of showcasing the best selection of wines under one roof. We were blown away by the variety available, as well as the many different food pairings.

We visited the cheese stall and tasted combinations of wine and cheese, which are a reliably good pairing. We then moved on to the biltong stall, and spent a lot of time there...we could not stop tasting the different types of biltong on show! The dry light biltong stood out for me especially when accompanied with Kasteelberg's Red Berries Merlot.

The Robertson wines are my favourite, especially their white sparkling wine. It is fruity but perfectly balanced on the palate. It has an inviting refreshing aroma that reflects its light character, and it trades at a very affordable price.

There were displays of art by Artist Proof Studio, Frans Groenewald and TOKARA Wine Made Art. TOKARA celebrated the release of its new vintage in September with exquisite paintings using TOKARA red wine. Frans Groenewald is known for his tongue-in-cheek artwork which sells countrywide, and also under licence in the UK. His art studio is situated at Lourensford Wine Estate in Somerset West.

“Rand Merchant Bank celebrates and reward exceptional talent. As an avid supporter of South African arts, culture and heritage, we are pleased to introduce innovative examples of wine-linked art to RMB WineX this year. We are happy to be the common ground where the 'art of business' embraces the 'business of art' alongside the 'art of wine,' said Carolynne Waterhouse, Corporate Marketing, RMB.
