CATALINA THEATRE, Wilson’s Wharf: Bhagwan Gave Me this Life (God Gave Me this Life) is a play in Hindi written and directed by Vivian Moodley and performed by Pranesh Maharaj. It stages from Friday to Sunday. Set in 1981 in Inanda, the story is about widower Balram (Maharaj) who we meet at a turning point in his life. Friday at 7pm; Saturday at 2pm and 7pm; and Sunday at 2pm and 7pm. It is a family-friendly production. Book at Computicket.

 

HERITAGE THEATRE: The Gee Jays are back, for two weeks only, with a compilation show of some of their finest material called Snippets. Gary McKenzie, Grant Bell and John Didlick revisit some of the most hilarious moments in their illustrious careers. With excerpts from their first hit shows Not the Full Monty, The Three Tonners and Book Club to their later successes, Bad Moon Rising, Who’s Your Daddy? and Boep Idles. Ends February 9. RHUMBELOW THEATRE, DBN: Presents the eight-piece band Platform Jazz in their new production, Show Time. The line-up features Cathy “Hotlips” Peacock on trumpet, Dunc “The Hunc” Wooldridge on trombone, Ian “Lightning Fingers” Holloway on clarinet, Melvin Peters on piano and more. BARNYARD THEATRE: Forever Young takes the audience on a musical journey down memory lane. The show is dedicated to those singers who remain etched in our memories because of their incredible music: Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson, Louis Armstrong, Barry White and Ray Charles as well as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Eddie Cochran. More recent singers who left their mark on our world are also featured such as John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, Amy Winehouse and Bob Marley. The show stars Tiaan Rautenbach, Percy Smith and Gavin Esterhuizen on male vocals along with Maryke Buffel and Peyton Amber on female vocals. They are backed up by Regardt de Bruin on guitar, Calli Thomson on keyboards, Fresh Monanyane on bass guitar, Ruan Oosthuyzen on drums and Denzil Erasmus on sax. Written and directed by Sandy Bigara (The Game, Animal Tails I & II, Bewitched, Songs of Love, Rapunzel), it is filled with love songs from the 1940s such as Bei Mir Bist du Schön, Auf Wiedersehn, If I Loved You, Just Yours and more.
