l HERITAGE THEATRE: Presents Yesterday Once More – a musical and deconstructed look at the works of brother and sister super-group, Richard and Karen Carpenter, known as The Carpenters. Among the songs featured are Close To You, I Won’t Last a Day Without You, Top of the World, Only Yesterday, Rainy Days and Mondays and We’ve Only Just Begun. The show features Marion Loudon and Melanie Roberts backed by Chloe Clark on piano and keyboards, Nux Schwartz on guitar, Glen Turrell on bass and Andy Turrell on drums and pedal steel. l BARNYARD THEATRE: It’s a case of “long live The King” at The Barnyard at Gateway when they bring you Elvis Forever from January 14 to 26. This tribute show captures the excitement of Elvis’s greatest performances and reproduces his hits from the 1950s through to those from Vegas in the 1970s. Expect to hear Hound Dog, Heartbreak Hotel, Don’t Be Cruel, Jailhouse Rock, Love Me Tender, It’s Now Or Never, Return To Sender, Suspicious Minds, Can’t Help Falling In Love, Always On My Mind and the goosebump-inducing American Trilogy. Backing up Shaky Russell on vocals will be Granville Michaels and Luasanne Wijnberg, with the band comprising Regardt de Bruin on guitar, Calli Thomson on keys, Fresh Monanyane on bass guitar, Ruan Oosthuyzen on drums, Ola Aina on sax and Stephanie Pais on trumpet. l CATALINA THEATRE: The Musho! International Theatre Festival will run from January 15 to 20 with a varied line-up of shows and performance art and workshops for artists. It is presented by the Performing Arts Network of South Africa (Pansa) with the support of Twist Theatre Development Projects, the KZN Department of Arts and Culture, The Daily News, Business and Arts South Africa and the Arts and Culture Trust.
