FUNNYman Sans Moonsamy is all set to debut his new show in Durban.

The Love Guru will stage at Suncoast Zone this month and promises to be a ripper of a show.

In an interview with Tonight, Moonsamy said he’ll start the show’s tour in Durban, followed by a season at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Joburg in June.

“It’s style is sketch comedy, but I’m trying to do something different to my usual style,” he explained, adding that the show is his best yet.

“There’s a conference happening and all the love gurus from across the world are visiting this one city. One of my most popular characters – Vishnu Moodley – sees an opportunity to discuss his love life with them and approaches these love gurus to get their help.

“There are a whole lot of different characters. There’s a rip-off character of Dr Phil, one of the main characters is Aunty Deepa who’s one of the main love gurus. She’s an old Indian lady who has her own take on love and life. Then there’s the cheating wife or cheating girlfriend, Nikki Maraj. She has her own story and a crazy dance to the song Anaconda… so there’s a lot of rip-off kind of characters that I’ve built into the story,” he said.

With a mix of music, dance and audience participation, Moonsamy said he’s certain the show will go down well.

“Aunty Deepa will be talking to the audience about their lives and their love lives. One of my specialties is messing with the audience and I have a few tricks up my sleeve for this show, so I am looking forward to that.”

Moonsamy said he thinks people will like this show a lot more than his previous ones, adding that he’s used feedback from his audience over the years to give them what they’ve been asking for.
