HOT bodies, clear skies and chilled vibes are some of the things to look forward to in summer. And since it’s considered the best time of the year, there are loads of parties going down over the festive period. Speaking of which, one such party is Summerfest 2013 and it takes place on Monday at the Wavehouse.

It features 30 of South Africa’s hottest DJs and two world-class stage productions.

Partygoers can expect the best from South Africa’s No 1 electronic dance music (EDM) duo, Pascal and Pearce (P&P); Joburg’s deep house duo Irmaos De Deus; 5FM’s Roger Goode, Kent, Euphonik, Dino Bravo, Ryan the DJ and more.

Chatting about the concept behind Summerfest, the organiser of the event, Ryan Naicker, says: “It’s basically a means to bring people together through music. If you look at pop culture, it shapes and moulds the way people think and behave.

“We want to use this in a positive way to change the mindset of people about other races and cultures and develop a unique identity in terms of being South African. Our aim is to unite different people through music.”

With a killer line-up of performances to look forward to, the fest will be headlined by the talented electro house production duo P&P and other awesome acts.

Having just released their One Night Only album, P&P are sure to get the dance floor burning at Summerfest. Other performances to look forward to include Euphonik and DJ Kent.

Euphonik has worked with such major international acts as Afrojack, Swedish House Mafia and Skrillex, and the crowd have come to know and love the DJ for the most insane mixes.

The same goes for 5FM’s DJ Kent, who has been receiving massive airplay for his hot single with The Arrows, Spin My World Around. The track also went to No 1 on MTV Choice. This club banger is bound to get the crowd jumping.

The 12-hour electronic dance party goes on until midnight and is expected to be an amazing experience not only for EDM fans, but for people of all tastes.

Naicker said: “This event is unique in terms of the entire production, from the lighting to the sound, stage and set-up. And it’s also unique in the kind of music that will be played.

“Some fests focus on specific genres but we like to cater for everyone in terms of different genres like house, hip hop, electronic, trance, pop and so on. There’s something for every-one. It’s going to be an explosive sound party.

“We’re trying to give people an international experience by bringing international concepts here and infusing them with a South African flavour.”
