THE Wushwini Arts, Culture and Heritage Centre has announced its Festive Fever programme for next month and looks ready to bring on the merriment.

Starting on December 6, the programme will roll out at weekends with a wide array of entertainment on the line-up.

Hip hop, poetry meets jazz, fashion, good food and wine tasting, a reggae tribute and more are on the cards for the venue near Inanda Dam.

Founder of the centre, Jerry Pooe, said the purpose of Festive Fever is to make Wushwini a tourism destination during December. “For people to come and enjoy fresh air and scenery,” he said.

“The programme was selected to balance what is enjoyable to young and old, kicking off with our hip hop night, attracting the young, and a taste of jazz for the old. There is reggae for mixed ages. Every weekend people will be exposed to different programmes and concerts.

“We also have a 16 Days of Activism programme running for November, on Friday we have an Arts in Schools Festival supported by the national Department of Arts and Culture, and on December 15 we will have a fund-raising dinner with Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma as our guest speaker. All the performing artists are coming from KZN and especially Durban and surrounds,” he added.
