Josh Groban fans are in for treat when Rory McLaren brings back to the stage a revival of his hit tribute show of the singing great.

“The You Raise Me Up – A Tribute to Josh Groban did very well when I first staged it in 2008, but I think it’s time to revive it and that’s why I’m doing it.”

While keeping skeleton of the show, McLaren has added a host of new songs to the playlist, but you’ll still be able to hear the all-time favourites like You Raise Me Up.

“Josh Groban’s style of singing is very much the style I like. I love his ballads and music in general. It was quite difficult putting this show together because he has 107 songs in his song- book, so I had to go through all of them and choose ‘the best’.”

McLaren returns to stage after five years of performing internationally.

Possessing a confident stage presence, a three-octave range and virtuoso piano skills means the audience is in for a real treat.

A press release said he has the ability to move effortlessly from the biggest hits such as The Prayer, To Where You Are, You Raise Me Up, Remember When It Rained and Believe, to operatic anthems.

The production runs from Friday to Sunday at Rhumbelow Theatre in Durban; May 15 at the Aliwal Theatre, and May 17 at Rhumbelow Theatre in Pietermaritzburg. Tickets are R120, pensioners pay R100, at Computicket.
