Durban - Space, comfort and peace make Montusi Mountain Lodge the ultimate getaway for a Country Lifer. This beautiful family-owned and run lodge is situated in the less-developed northern Drakensberg.

The 14 individual suites are set apart in the thriving indigenous gardens with breathtaking views of the stunning Amphitheatre mountain. With king-size beds, baths and walk-in showers, gas fireplaces, private patios, TVs, fridges, filter coffee, bubble bath, fresh flowers, robes and even umbrellas, every need is met.

Montusi’s food sets the lodge further apart from the standard Berg fare: gourmet meals are enjoyed by all manner of tastes. Special requirements are happily catered for and the fresh ingredients and well thought-out menus make meals a highlight.

The 1 000-hectare estate is home to prolific birdlife as well as antelope, small cats and reptiles. Activities on offer include the Berg favourites of hiking, horse-riding, fly-fishing, tennis and swimming, but one of the most enjoyable pastimes of Montusi guests is to sit and “just do nothing” while soaking in the ever-changing views of the light on the mountains.
