Cape Town - The spectacular 2015 Cape Town Carnival takes to the streets this Saturday evening, 14 March. The theme for this year’s Carnival is Elemental - Celebrating Fire, Water, Air and Earth.

Leading out the Fire Element procession, Tsogo Sun’s iLanga-The African Sun is set to light up the Fanwalk in a spectacular blaze of vibrant orange, yellow and red.

Powerfully costumed lead performers in traditional African patterned headdresses and wide skirts will be accompanied by a high energy group of dancers in yellow, orange and red costumes. They make way for the symbol of the African sun itself: a 5m high by 4m wide mandala pulsating with pattern, light and colour. At the centre of the sun stands the sparkling lead performer, celebrity comedian Siv Ngesi, with the rays of the sun appearing to radiate from his heart.

“What I’ll be wearing on the Tsogo Sun float is a secret but I’ve heard it’s very little and mainly paint! I can’t wait to fire up this celebration and be a part of our awesome Cape Town gees”, said Ngesi.

Commenting on Tsogo Sun’s interpretation of the Elemental theme, Tsogo Sun Operations Director, John van Rooyen, said: ““The African sun strikingly reflects the warmth of our hospitality. Our highly passionate staff are at the heart of the unforgettable experiences we offer our guests”.

Brad Baard, Creative Director for the Cape Town Carnival, continued: “What excites me most about Tsogo Sun’s float is its breathtaking combination of design, construction, colour and human energy”.
