London - For Harry Potter fans who were heartbroken by the death of the brooding Professor Snape, fear not.

He is not only alive, but has been promoted from his role of potions master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, and is now working at a muggle airline.

American Airlines announced the news via their social media account to the excitement of passengers and fans of the JK Rowling book series.

The company uploaded a photo of an uncanny lookalike employee, who spends his time helping muggles board its aircraft.

The carrier told passengers that Severus Snape would be assisting with Flight Nine and Three Quarters from LaGuardia to Hogwarts.

A caption read: “We’ll be boarding by Sorting House and are expecting a full flight today.

“Our frst class Slytherin passengers can now board the Patronus Jet. Please let our flight attendants know if you would like a pre-departure butterbeer.

“Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are welcome to board next.

“Last and certainly least, Gryffindor and muggles may board.”

Facebook user Natalie Schroeder replied, asking: “I assume the flight attendants will be handing out bags of Bertie Bots’ Every Flavour Beans?”

The international airline replied: “Naturally, Natalie.”

Another fan, Sue Johnson Smart, stated that it was no surprise that the Half-Blood Price boarded the Gryffindors last, following his biased treatment of students from his own house, Slytherin, over Gryffindor, in the books.

People’s Magazine reported that the post was a light-hearted acknowledgement of comments the airline had had about employee David Dolci’s striking resemblance to the Hogwarts teacher. He was apparently first spotted in 2012.

The amused Dolci seems to be comfortable in the role and can be seen pointing a wand at a robe-clad customer.
