Frankfurt - Lufthansa will soon be offering cross-border hourly flights for the first time. Starting on March 30, connections from Frankfurt to London's Heathrow Airport, Brussels and Vienna will take off on an hourly basis, the airline has announced.

The flights to the Austrian capital will be operated in coordination with Austrian Airlines. Since October 2012, Lufthansa has offered hourly domestic flights from Frankfurt to three German cities - Berlin, Hamburg and Munich.

The new schedule will ease planning for frequent flyers and reduce the waiting time for missed flights.

Lufthansa said the hourly domestic flights have been well received by the passengers, resulting in the decision to expand them internationally to much-requested European routes.

There will be 12 flights daily to London, with departures from Frankfurt at the top of the hour, plus 10 flights to Brussels - always at 25 minutes past the hour, and 13 flights daily to Vienna in unison with Austrian Airlines, departing at 10 minutes to the hour.

The flights will be restricted to the busiest span of the day. Return legs will also operate hourly. - Sapa-dpa
