Johannesburg - SA Airways (SAA) and low-cost airline Mango have agreed to extend their shared flights agreement, SAA said on Tuesday.

As of last Friday, the two airlines extended the agreement on shared flights between Cape Town and Durban, and between Lanseria airport and Cape Town, SAA spokesperson Tlali Tlali said in a statement.

The agreement included flights between Johannesburg and Cape Town, Durban, Port Elizabeth, and George.

Routes between Cape Town and Bloemfontein, and Cape Town and Port Elizabeth would be included, Tlali said.

Mango CEO Nico Bezuidenhout welcomed the extension.

“...By adding greater network choice through collaboration, not only will SAA passengers benefit, but commercially it represents a giant leap forward for both brands.”

Mango's flight tickets would be coded “JE” and SAA would use “SA”.

The initial agreement was made in 2010. - Sapa
