Cape Town - February is expected to be the busiest month for tourism establishments in the Mother City, says Cape Town Tourism.
Findings of a forward-looking survey for February, carried out by Cape Town Tourism in conjunction with Horwath HTL and industry members, indicated an average expected occupancy rate of more than 80 percent for accommodation establishments across the metropole, said Cape Town Tourism communications manager Skye Grove.
She said one of the major challenges faced at this time of year was that with the increase in arrivals, Cape Town’s infrastructure was stretched and the city experienced limited parking and increased traffic on the roads, particularly around major tourist attractions and beaches.
“The plethora of things to do, places to visit and the great weather we have been having means visitors have been exploring Cape Town, as demonstrated by the fact that all rental cars in Cape Town were fully booked for the last two weeks.”
In the first three months of last year, more than 420 000 people visited the Western Cape. - Cape Argus
