London - Anxious tourists are filled with all kinds of questions before they jet abroad to a country they have never visited before. But some of their questions border on the absurd.

An organisation representing US travel agents has revealed some of the strangest and most ridiculous questions they have faced in the past year.

One traveller asked: “Can you please book the honeymoon suite for us and another couple?”

While another wanted to know if the travel agent could plan a honeymoon for the customer, their bride and his mother.

One customer pleaded: “Don’t tell my fiancé this is where I took my first wife for our honeymoon.”

Another customer asked: “Can you book two rooms in different parts of the resort – one for me and my wife and the other for my girlfriend?”

When it comes to geography, several tourists proved it wasn’t their strongest subject in school.

One traveller wanted to know if there are toll roads on the way to Hawaii, and another was perplexed when they found out they wouldn’t be able to visit Scotland and Denmark on the same trip. After being informed there wasn’t enough time in his schedule, the holidaymaker said: “But they’re only an inch apart on the map.”

Another traveller asked: “How can I get to Europe without going by air or sea?”

Other forehead-slapping questions or requests included: “Can I fish off a cruise ship?”

“Does the crew actually sleep on board the cruise ship?”

“Will you watch my pet while I’m away?”

“Can you set it up so that the whales jump in the background at the same time I’m proposing to my girlfriend?”

And, finally: “I don’t want a window seat on the plane because I just had my hair done.”
