And with people staying fitter and healthier for longer, they are opting to go skiing, climbing or on a safari ahead lounging by the pool.
Saga Holiday has added more active packages to destinations such as Burma, Uzbekistan and New Zealand for its over-50s to keep up with demands.
A survey by the Post Office found that a quarter of over-55s had become “grey gappers” – people who travel for two months or more at a time.
