Paris - As far as lavish balls go, they don’t get more grand than this upcoming Secret Venetian Ball in the Underground Canals of Paris.

It’s an event of a lifetime where 2 000 guests have the chance to descend to the watery Parisian underworld for a four-night-long masquerade in January.

Parisians and adventurers will board small boats in the direction of a secret Venice, hidden in Paris.

The event’s website says the maze-like route will be punctuated with theatrical surprises, music and special effects.

Tickets for the Parisian ball can be purchased for e51.25 (about R777) with four options for dates, January 22, 23, 29 and 30.

In order for the historic occasion to take place, everything rests on the required amount of guests booking their tickets before midnight on November 16.

Places can be reserved at VeniseSous.Paris.
