I’ve reached the top, where’s the pub?

London - Standing at an imposing 4 409ft (about 1 300m) , it is the tallest mountain in Britain.

So you would think anyone planning to climb Ben Nevis would be aware that it wouldn’t exactly be a walk in the park.

But one visitor to the mountain in Scotland was still taken aback by its dimensions and left a withering one star review on website TripAdvisor, describing it as “too steep and too high”.

The man from Sulgrave, Northamptonshire, who went by the name GrimTraveller, explained that after visiting Mount Snowdon in Wales, where you can catch a train to the peak, he had “forgotten” how high mountains can be.

He said the climb up Ben Nevis, which took him almost a full day, was “boring” and “far too long”, adding that his girlfriend was “crying at one point.” He then criticised the fact that there was no pub, restaurant or toilet at the top.

GrimTraveller also complained that the view at the peak was “non-existent” because it was cloudy, concluding: “This attraction is free, but I honestly couldn’t imagine anyone – and I mean anyone – paying to climb this.”
