DURBAN - Busisiwe Mavuso has been appointed the Chief Operations Officer and Director of the Board at Business Leadership South Africa (BLSA)

Mavuso will be responsible for Operations, Finance & Administration, ICT, Policy and Strategy, Membership Services and Programme Managment, amongst other things. 

She previously worked as the Managing Director of the Black Management Forum (BMF) and has been with them since 2009 when she joined as the Chief Financial Officer.

Bonang Mohale, CEO of BLSA, said that under Mavuso the BMF the BMF’s business performance significantly strengthened, grew its assets and revenue base to enable it to continue its mandate of developing black managerial leadership thereby developing a black leadership talent, which is one of BLSA’s key objectives.

Mavuso joins the executive team that is led by Mohale. Also on the team is Themba Maseko as the Communications Director, Sizwe Mbele as the director of strategy and Tebele Makhetha and the Director of Policy and Legislation.

The new COO started her career in finance in 1995 in the banking industry before moving on to work in fields like healthcare and telecoms. She has her Masters in Business Leadership from the UNISA School of Leadership, a postgraduate qualification in Managment from GIBS and a BCompt Degree from UNisa.

She is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. 

Mavuso said "I am honoured to be joining BLSA at a time when social dialogue needs to be both strengthened and elevated. This will add a new dimension to my advocacy work and I am excited by this challenge".
