CAPE TOWN - Anton Minnaar, Eskom’s executive support manager told Parliament’s inquiry into state capture that Brian Molefe’s R30m pension payout was worth it as he stopped load shedding.

Minnaar told members of the public enterprises committee that Molefe managed to break the back of load shedding.

"If he can stop load shedding, I will pay him," Minnaar retorted.

The ACDP's Steve Swart also asked Minnaar whether it was "morally defensible" to pay Molefe R30 million after only 18 months of service.

Minnaar said yes.

Minnaar also noted that Molefe did qualify for a pension benefit according to Eskom pension fund.
