Altech Autopage, a subsidiary of Allied Electronics unit Altron TMT, was set to acquire the Cell C subscriber base of Nashua Mobile for R91.5 million, the company said yesterday. The deal, subject to approval by competition authorities, will give Altech Autopage control of a subscriber base of 65 000 users. The company will make an upfront payment of R45.75m, with the balance deferred for six months. Altron TMT chief executive Craig Venter said the transaction would give customers a differentiated network choice. He said the company was committed to diversifying its portfolio to deliver broader converged solutions. This strategy, he said, was already paying dividends and would result in further tangible benefits for shareholders. Nashua Mobile Cell C customers would be incorporated into Altech Autopage’s business and be billed through Altech Autopage service points and channels. – Ayanda Mdluli
