CAPE TOWN - Dennis George, general secretary of the Federation of Unions of South Africa (Fedusa) has launched an attack against Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba’s attempts to remove the CEO of the Public Investment Corporation (PIC), Dr Daniel Matjila.

“The truth of course now is to gain control of the institution in order to plunder the pension savings of millions of public servants”, George said to Fin24 late last night.

Business Report (BR) published a number of articles on the various Friday attempts from the Treasury to remove Matjila from the PIC.

It is time that Gigaba states his true colours.

The various attempts on Friday to discredit Matjila were unsuccessful, yet, Gigaba still continues to seek a way to get rid of Matjila.

BR would like to challenge Gigaba to publicly state his honest opinion.

Does the minister want to get rid of Matjila in time to get funding for the books to balance on the eve of the Mid Term Budget Speech (MTBS) on 25 October?

The question remains: Does Gigaba mean what he says, and say what he means?
