DURBAN – International doughnut brand Krispy Kreme opened their fifth store in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) at Suncoast Casino and Entertainment World on Tuesday.
The first Krispy Kreme store opened on the 25 November 2015 at the Zone in Rosebank, Johannesburg.
While KZN had their first store open at Gateway Theatre of Shopping in Umhlanga last year March. The famous doughnut brand then expanded and opened stores at the Ballito Lifestyle Center in December 2017 followed by the Liberty Midlands Mall on 1st August 2018.
The fourth doughnut store was opened two months ago at the Pavilion Mall on the 17th September 2018.
According to Erin Kriel, Marketing Specialist for Krispy Kreme South Africa, the doughnut brand has 15 stores nationwide.
By the end of 2018, there wiil be 17 trading Krispy Kreme stores as well as 18 off-premise retail partner sites and an estimated 24 sites trading before the end of the year.
Kriel spoke about the opening of Krispy Kreme stores in KZN. She said, "We have had a presence in KZN since 2017 and found with the launch of our Theatre store, Gateway that the KZN community love our product which birthed the natural and easy decision to try reach all homes in KZN with our doughnuts and coffee".
Kriel added that it is a thriving economic market that is receptive to all sorts of concepts and brands.
According to Kriel the response to the recently launched Krispy Kreme has been exceptional and well received.
"We acknowledge the discerning shopper of the Pavilion Mall and appreciate their feedback as much as their patronage," said Kriel.
South Africans can look forward to the company's very first ‘’box shop’’ concept which will launch early December in Pretoria while 2019 potentially promises the launch of our Western Cape market.
Krispy Kreme said that their short-term goal is 30 stores while speaking on their long-term goal the company said "Watch this space".
