Talks between unions and Lonmin employers were due to get underway in Marikana on Monday, the National Union of Mineworkers said.
“Yes, there will be some engagement today,” spokesman Lesiba Seshoka said.
“It looks like things are normalising as people are returning to work.”
He said there had been some “trouble” at Lonmin's eastern platinum shaft on Monday morning.
“We have received reports that a group of about 30 workers were threatened.”
These were workers who had not returned to work. Seshoka said he did not know who had threatened them.
Lonmin spokeswoman Gillian Findlay and Sue Vey could not immediately be reached for comment.
The spokesperson for the Association of Mineworkers and Construction Union (Amcu) was also not immediately available for comment.
