Mango wins Best Low-Cost Airline in Africa Award

DURBAN - Mango has won the Best Low-Cost Airline in Africa Award at the Skytrax World Airline Awards. 

The awards which are sometimes referred to as the " Oscars of the Aviation Industry" was launched in 1999. Skytrax is the embodiment of excellence in the aviation industry and it demonstrates a vote of confidence from millions of global travellers annually. 

Nic Vlok, the Acting CEO of Mango Airlines said, "We could not be more thrilled with this outstanding achievement. This has been the culmination of our continued hard work and dedication over the years to excellent customer service".

Vlok added that the award speaks to their level of consistency to service excellence throughout a customers travel journey. 

The awards uses surveys to determine the recipients of the various awards. Accordng to the Skytrax website, the mandate for the Skytrax survey from the beginning was to deliver a survey and airline awards process that is independent, impartial and global. 

The customer voting process and awards analysis were independently evaluated in 2015 and found to be compliant, transparent and independent. MOre than 100 nationalities took part in the survey with 20,36 million eligible entries counted in the results. 

Mango has also won Skytrax awards in 2014 and 2015, however, in 2016 although they were nominated the company did not win an award. 

On maintaining low prices the company said that they are continuously looking for ways to keep their operating costs to a minimum so that they can pass the discounts on to their clients. Mango added that they have to remain competitive while still offering service excellence and quality product. 

Singapore Airlines won the World's Best Airline Award and the award for the World's Best First Class.
