CAPE TOWN - South African companies exporting mining equipment are expected to showcase their products at the 2017 Perumin Mining Convention set to take place from 18-25 September 2017 in Peru.

This event happens twice a year bringing together the world's leading technology and services in the mining and metals sector. It is said that South Africa's participation will be focusing on machinery, equipment, technologies, services and supplies for the mining sector. SA companies' participation in the exhibition was organised by the Department of Trade and Industry with the aim of increasing exports to Peru.

The department employs its Export Marketing and Investment Assistance scheme with the aim to develop export markets for South African products and services and recruit new foreign direct investment into the country. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies says the exhibition will expose South African companies to export opportunities in the South American region.

"The convention will further expose South African companies to available trade and investment opportunities and will be a good platform to promote South African exhibitors to potential customers in order to obtain new business and penetrate new markets," Davies said.

Davies notes that Peru is one of the fastest growing economies in the Latin American group of countries and describes the trade relations between South Africa and Peru as very important.
